 gcse results, August 2016 - Progress 8

Our GCSE results show that students make on average half a grade higher progress in their GCSEs than expected. We are a fully comprehensive school who take students of all abilities and from all backgrounds and we are very proud of the value that we add as a school. Our attainment 8 score (attainment across 8 subjects) was a C grade. Almost 80% of our Year 11 students achieved at least a C grade in English Language or Literature with the vast majority achieving both and many achieving at A* level. A third of our Year 11 cohort achieved 5 A*-B grades in their GCSEs. 37% of the Year 11 cohort achieved the English Baccalaureate and we expect this to be above the national performance.

Previous Performance - GCSE (EbACc)

We were absolutely delighted for our Year 11 students in August. 80% of the year group achieved 5A*-C and 67% achieved 5A*-C (E+M). These results are in line with our achievements in 2014 and put us above the national figures for girls. There was a delay in receiving our English iGCSE grades and this is why our A*-C (E+M) appears lower when reported elsewhere. The validated results confirming the 67% figure will be available shortly. The graph below shows the strength of our results over the past three years:
